Facebook Ruined Instagram
Back a few months ago when I heard that Facebook had bought Instagram, I feared that things would change. Looks like I was right….all the buzz today is about the change to the “privacy policy” on Instagram that Facebook now owns. If you do not delete your Instagram account by January the 16th, Facebook can sell your pictures without you knowing about it & without you receiving a dime or even given credit for your work.
I haven’t figured out yet what I am going to do because I have so much invested in it…created two tags that have really taken off, have over 500 followers, love to look at all the work from the 600 something people that I follow, & hate to lose or miss out on my Instacanvas Gallery which I’m sure may go under if everybody leaves Instagram. I have also built some really great relationships with other photographers on there. The whole situation is really bad. Not sure if any of you are on & follow me on Instagram or not, but wanted to let you know that I found out about another thing like Instagram today & it’s called “Streamzoo”. I have downloaded it & signed up. It looks really cool so far. Come check it out & follow me there. Gonna play with it for now til I decide what to do about Instagram. The only problem I have with streamzoo is nearly naked teens always at the top of the leader boards with the exact same duck pout pose on every picture. Aaaaaaagh!
I have seen a little of that Marting04. The same junk was on the popular page of Instagram too, I just never pulled up that page. I just checked out the people I followed & clicked on tags that I liked. Thanks so much for coming by.
I suspect when everyone exits instagram facebook may rethink their position. It is not going to be worth anything if no one uses it. I would hang on and see what happens. I have deleted my account, and I think we all need to do that, but I do think we haven’t heard the end of it.

Thanks Gail, it looks like they fixed it though…they said they way it was written, it was too confusing or they just back tracked because so many threatened to leave. They posted some tweaks to it that sounds ok now. I’m glad because I hated to leave after all I put into it & I really love Instagram. Shoot, I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day I use it so much…lol
I haven’t deleted my instagram account yet but I stopped posting photos and told all my followers to follow me on Flickr and on my blog instead. I’m kinda waiting for instagram’s response but I’m not hopeful. Facebook’s been a total nightmare for me so if it’s headed in that direction I’ll be done with it by Jan. 16th.
